Even though it is not a mexican holiday, the fact of growing up between two wonderful countries gave me the chance to have the best of both worlds. Today I'm celebrating Thanksgiving with my cousin and some friends in the most traditional way possible which includes turkey, snow, wine, and New York City!
The most important thing about this holiday is of course, to be grateful. A holiday shouldn't be an excuse to thank but it should be a day to bring the family together and remember that every day is a blessing and every day we should take at least one second to thank and tell that special person how much you care and how much they are changing your life. Even if it's in the smallest way, you never know the impact that a truthful "thank you" can be.

How to prepare for the holidays? Whether is sequins, fur and heels or something more comfortable like a cool skirt and a chunky sweater, there is nothing that a black coat can't fix. I do believe a good coat makes every winter outfit more tailored and elegant. No matter where you go, if it's walking on the Highline Park (like today's post) or a date night out, a black coat on top will do the work, including keeping you warm.

I'm thankful for my family,
for my friends,
for my boyfriend,
for health, love, and support,
for my career and my job,
and most importantly, I thank God for all the blessings.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Love,
S

Boga México

Top & Shorts: Zara / Shoes: BCBGeneration / Bag: Zac Posen / Sunnies: Nastygal
Photos by: Pepe Almazán

I'm so happy to announce my collaboration Boga Mexico! This new online fashion magazine invited me to be part of their columnists sections which I was delighted to be part of. I took this great opportunity to explain more about my life and the real meaning behind The Street Styler and the not-so-glamorous yet intriguing world of fashion.
The photos that I included in the article were taken by the amazing photographer Pepe Almazan during his visit to New York City. I went for a feminine-chic look that matched the streets of Soho, my favorite area in the city.
Read the article here: http://bogamexico.com/sara-castillo/ yes, I'm even more happy that I could write an article in spanish again! Hope you enjoy it.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you Boga Mexico for the amazing opportunity and to Pepe Almazan Photography for the collaboration (wait to see more of our shoot on the blog!)

Love,
S

All About The Fur

Sweater: Zara / Jeans: Courtshop / Booties: Forever XXI / Clutch: BCBGMaxazria / Sunnies: Gucci / Lipstick: Ruby Woo by MAC

Finally is starting to feel like a real winter, which means pulling out all the chunky sweaters and socks.
For somebody like me that is used to temperatures above 100's, this is an interesting experience. With the first cold day (which was nothing compare to is what's yet to come) not even layering all my light-weight pieces was enough.
One thing is going on vacations to Colorado, enjoying the snow and the outdoor activities to come back to your cozy cabin, put on your cashmere pajamas and enjoy a nice cup of hot coco by the fire... well, that just lasts for a couple of days and does NOT happen in our everyday lives so, I definitely need to start working on my real winter essentials.
Chunky sweaters, fur and boots, that's what comes to my mind. This cute navy sweater with fur on the sleeves is one of my favorites. Not only is appropriate for day-to-night but it is actually really warm in the inside!
Sunday walks around South Street Seaport are becoming my favorite, and now next to my photographer Jessie I will be able to bring you more breathless sights in the city that never sleeps.

Love,
S
