The Artsy Lower East Side

Long weeks of hard work and almost no time to rest. That's life in New York City but with two weeks left before departing home some fun needs to be done, including blog posts and even some shopping. This well-spent weekend with my friends was all about laughs, food, drinks, and discovering new sights. Places from Le Bain in Meatpacking to Jack's Wife Freda and even graffiti walls on the Lower East Side are great for unexpected inspiration.

Today's outfit was perfect for a weekend with the girls. Sporty going chic is something I thought I would never try but with the long walks in the City my feet needed some hugs from a cute pair of sneakers. So I thought, why not pair them up with cotton shorts and a cute bright top with a statement necklace to keep it flirty? Nothing more comfortable and prepared for anything that might pop up during the weekend.

A Walk On The Highline

What a better way to wear a floral dress than for a walk in the park. One of my favorite parks has to be the Highline Park, also because I have the Chelsea market underneath where I can find the best iced coffee and brownies. Yes, I have a sweet-tooth!

 As girly as I am, I actually don't like wearing dresses. I like the challenge so mixing and matching pieces makes my style more fun and interesting, however some other times I feel like wearing one piece. This floral dress has enough print to put chunky accessories on it but a cute belt makes it more flirty. I chose black because it matches the black line on the panama hat and my sunnies, and to change it a little bit I put on my mint cut-out oxford shoes. Casual, comfortable and yet stylish.

Don't be afraid to add your own touch to a simple dress, there is always a way to own a piece without trying too hard.

Financial District

They say things turn out better when you don't plan them, and in this case that happened. New York City has everyday surprises and our photoshoot day was all about the uptown subways being closed plus a little bit of rain. We had to work with what we had: Financial District, the place I call home for the summer.

My outfit is for a relaxing weekend. I'm wearing a button down, loose, burgundy shirt, ripped denim shorts, booties and a statement necklace. I love denim shorts and while you can wear them with wedge sandals you can also wear them with the most important asset in the city, booties! That's right, even in the summer booties are your feet's best friends. Always remember that even on bad days you can make an ordinary outfit look extraordinary. Always be ready to hit the streets because you never know what the day will bring to you.

South Street Seaport

This happened to be my longest weekend thanks to the 4th of July celebrations happening around New York City. Personally that means time to check out the beautiful views of the city and play with my wardrobe a little bit. How to make an outfit more dressy? Just add a pair of heels and a statement piece.

In this case I wanted to use more white which is a clean and classy color for the summer. To make it more interesting I added my floral print blazer and a pair of mid-heel royal blue shoes. I love the trendy Zara white skort because it cant be worn from day to night, be it with a sweater and heels or denim and flats. The weather might be getting hotter but that doesn't mean you have to wear flip flops all the time.
